Hot Summer Events in Dubrovnik
Summer, Dubrovnik, Stradun... this is a magical combination for having a wonderful time in the unique atmosphere of one of the world's most beautiful stages.



You should also come to the City at the foot of Mount Srđ and experience an abundance of appealing sounds and colours, listen to the rhythms of tennis artists McEnroe and Ivanišević, and enjoy the superb operatic arias performed on the occasion of the World Music Day, the cocktails made by the finest barmen, the colourful folk costumes and sounds of the lijerica instrument at the Primorje Wedding, the magnificent Ode to Liberty performed while the Libertas flag is raised for 61st time during the Dubrovnik Festival opening ceremony, the sincere voices of the Little Dubrovnik Singers blending with the swifts' twitter, the concert of the three Croatian divas Tereza, Gabi and Radojka which takes place on the occasion of the Dubrovnik Night on 10 July, the Libertas Film Festival projections...as well as the glamorous Hollywood stars – the Libertas Film Meeting guests and the pleasant-sounding midnight serenades performed under the Sponza Palace arcades.

On 21 July, on the occasion of the World Music Day, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and the Libertas Choir conducted by the famous Noorman Widjaja and with the soloists Lorena Campari, soprano (Italy) and Joeng - Kyu Kim, tenor (South Korea) will perform a concert of operatic arias in front of St Blaise's Church. The programme will include the finest arias by Bizet, Puccini, Verdi and other well-known composers. The first day of summer will mark the beginning of the week during which we shall taste gastronomic delicacies and finest wines of the Dubrovnik area. On Thursday, 24 June, in addition to the Dubrovnik Table, the Wedding of Konavle will be performed in the Stradun. This traditional and original event, saved from oblivion, will be completed by the performance of the Linđo hop dance. The traditional Dubrovnik Brass Band march past in Stradun on 25 June will enhance Croatia’s Statehood Day. The nights will be reserved for midnight serenades, dance rhythms and evergreens at Luža Square, while the street player on the Pile Gate steps will proudly show you Paco de Lucia’s autograph on his instrument. From 25 – 27 June at the Port of Gruž, the Croatian Village Products Fair will take place, so that the visitors to Dubrovnik will have the opportunity to acquaint themselves with various products from Croatia’s plough-fields, meadows and vineyards.
One of the major fine art events in 2010, not only in Dubrovnik but also in Croatia, is the exhibition of Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti – the 20th century soul sculptor – which will be opened at the Dubrovnik Art Gallery  on 26 June. In February 2010 the news on Giacometti's sculpture L'Homme qui marche being sold for 75,3 million Euros - as the most expensive sculpture ever sold at an auction – spread like wildfire, thus securing him a place in the history of art.
Let's Do It! Is the name of a series of events that will take place from 2 – 9 July. The sixth edition of the Libertas Film Festival offers some of the World's best recently produced feature films, which have been awarded at the major film festivals in the world such as Berlin, Cannes, Venice and Toronto. Other events will include workshops, a horror film programme, night parties, while Gabourey Sidide, the protagonist of the film Precious, will be Dubrovnik's special guest during the festival.

The Children's Tennis Day in the Bay of Lapad on 7 July with the famous guests Goran Ivanišević and John McEnroe will announce the spectacular tennis match in front of the Rector's Palace. On 8 July the glorious tennis players will sail to the Old City on the historic replica of the boat Karaka and come to the Stradun accompanied by drummers and guards. Proceeds from this historic match will go towards the Children's Ward of the Dubrovnik General Hospital
The 47th concert of the Little Dubrovnik Singers and uncle Đelo will take place on 9 July in front of St Blaise's Church. Like in the preceding 60 years, Ode to Liberty will be performed and the Libertas flag will be raised on the Orlando Column at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival  opening ceremony. During the 45 festival days concerts and plays will be performed in the Old City, while various festivities and parties will also take place in other parts of the city such as Stars under the Stars  on the elegant Palm Terrace and the attractive Vala Club. On 25 July St Jacob's Day will be celebrated and the musk melon cocktails will traditionally be served in the Stradun.
The 5th jubilee Dubrovnik Film Meeting, organised together with the Sarajevo Film Festival, surprises us every year by inviting some famous Hollywood star. The elegant and glamorous red carpet edition is scheduled for 1 and 2 August in the Stradun and at the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel Vala Club.
Late August (27 and 28 August) is reserved for the second edition of the Dubrovnik Fashion Week  and Le petit festival du theatre  organised by the Marin Držić Theatre. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Julian Rachlin & Friends Chamber Music Festival, which takes place from 2 – 12 September, will bring to Dubrovnik our old acquaintances Roger Moore, Mischa Maisky, Itamar Golan, Janine Jansen and other virtuoso musicians whose performances awaken the pigeons sleeping at the Rector's Palace Atrium.
The summer fun can also begin by a cable car ride to Mount Srđ top, by visiting the Visia 5D Museum and by enjoying the Dubrovnik Card benefits. Dubrovnik invites you – come and promenade along the Stradun and meet celebrities, delight in the art of the Muses, even fall in love in the Stradun, but come by all means, and feel the difference!
