Croatian Maritime heritage - “Naše more” Journal

The journal „Naše more“ (ISSN: 0469-6255) is now approaching the age of 97, because it started to be published in 1919. It has been a very long and a restless period. All over the world, there are just few scientific/professional journals specialized for seafaring which managed to be published for such a long period. So this publication might really be considered to be Croatian maritime heritage.

Maritime related topics were logical consequence of seafaring orientation of our area and people who lived on seafaring. Therefore, primarily technical sciences related to seafaring (technology of transport, marine engineering and marine electric engineering) must be a priority, while natural sciences e.g. papers in biology and biotechnology will also be accepted. Ever increasingly, we want to introduce topics related to the life ashore like nautical tourism. All means of transport in connection with tourism industry are so crucial for the prosperity of this region.

For the papers from other maritime related scientific areas (e.g. social sciences and humanities), as well as popular papers and ads, we have decided to start a supplement as a separated unit. Besides usual issue three times a year, we start publishing special issue related to some common topics.

The journal has been published for a long period both in printed and electronic form (www.hrcak.hr, www.nasemore.com). Our papers are referenced in many digital databases (in Scopus more than 10 years). We try to maintain the quality of a printed form so as to continue long-term tradition, and we intend to send one copy aboard each ship with predominantly Croatian crew. It is our desire for our journal to be read in diaspora especially where there are Croats living successfully from sea i.e. fishing, shipbuilding, cultivation of the Mediterranean cultures, tourism etc.
