The workshop was organized in cooperation with the tourist boards of Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Šibenik-Knin County and in partnership with Turkish Airlines. The event was an educational presentation which allowed participants to find out details about the Croatian tourist offer, especially the offer of those destinations participating in the workshop.

There were 62 foreign participants and 12 media representatives taking part in the workshop. The event was opened by Dražen Hrastić, the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Japan. As part of the presentation, there was also a raffle for the participants: each tourist board ensured accommodation in the above-mentioned destinations, whereas Turkish Airlines covered the airline ticket fee for the winner. They also contributed by presenting each of the Croatian representatives with a plane ticket. Dubrovnik was represented by the director of the Tourist Board, Romana Vlašić: 'Japan is an extremely important market for Dubrovnik. Visitors from Japan come all year round and presenting Dubrovnik in the Expo will most certainly contribute to a rise in visits from this country.'

Dubrovnik Tourist Board and the Croatian National Tourist Board had a shared booth, together with the Zagreb Tourist Board and Šibenik-Knin County Tourist Board at the JATA Expo in Tokyo, from 21st until 24th September 2017. Last year, JATA Tourism Expo had more than 185.000 visitors, including 50.000 tourism professionals. The Expo had participants from more than 140 countries. As such, the JATA Tourism Expo in Tokyo is one of the most attractive and most efficient tourist events in the world.

From 1st January until 18th September this year Dubrovnik was visited by 22.699 Japanese tourists, which is a 10% increase when compared to the same period last year. Japanese tourists made 48.904 overnight stays, which is also 10% more than in 2016.
