DUBROVNIK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PROGRAM

The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra traditionally holds free concerts for citizens of Dubrovnik and guests in December. Entrance to these concerts is completely free and they regularly attract a large audience. The first such concert will be held on Tuesday, December 5th, on the occasion of the feast of Saint Nicholas and the Day of Dubrovnik’s Defenders, and will be held at the Church of the Friars of the Minor beginning at 8 pm. The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, the Dubrovnik Chamber Choir and the Mixed Choir Libertas will perform under the direction of maestro Tomislav Fačini and with a performance by mezzosoprano Dubravka Šeparović Mušović.

On Thursday, December 13th, in cooperation with the Rotary Club Dubrovnik, the traditional “Towards Christmas” concert will be held. This is a charitable concert during which the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of maestro Marc Tardue, will perform some of the most beautiful Advent and Christmas songs. The concert will be held in the Cathedral beginning at 7:30 pm.

This Christmas concert, which has since 1991 continuously taken place on the same date, December 22nd, will be held at the Valamar Lacroma Hotel. The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and Marc Tardue will perform with numerous guests, with traditional Christmas songs and carols on the program.

On Thursday, December 27th, beginning at 8 pm, a Christmas concert will be held in the Franciscan Church under the direction of maestro Victor Lenert, featuring Dubrovnik soloists, traditional Dalmatian klapa multipart singing groups and choirs.

Even New Year’s Day won’t go without music because exactly at 12 noon, on Monday, January 1st, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra will perform on Stradun under the direction of maestro Marc Tardue, featuring soprano Marija Kuhar Šoša.
