An abundance of musical events in the program for Festa Dubrovnik 2017

This is a charity event that takes place every year on the eve of the Festivity of St. Blaise, the celebration of the patron saint of Dubrovnik, and the proceeds traditionally go towards the renovation of the Church of Saint Blaise.

The first event, which is preceded by the traditional rite of the blessing of throats, is the Festivity of Klapa groups, held in the Marin Držić Theatre, where some of the most popular Croatian klapa a capela singing groups like Karaka, Kurenat, Staglin, Oštro, Cavtajke, Rikordo, Subrenum, FA Linđo and Kaše will perform. On this occasion, the Festa Dubrovnik association will mark the celebration of the 450th anniversary of the death of our greatest playwright Marin Držić through a dramatic reading of the Kolarin Theatre Company, with the participation of the Sorkočević Quartet.

The following day, on January 27th, the Du Rock Parade will be held at the Museum of Modern Art within the scope of the Night of Museums manifestation. On the 28th, a gala concert is in the program: Four Tenors and the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra. The performance will feature the tenors Vladimir Garić, Marko Pecotić Peco, Marko Škugor, and Đani Stipaničev, and the audience will enjoy a musical treat of classical and popular songs. The divas Dijana Hilje, Ilijana Korać, and Andrea Marić, and guest Jeanette Roeck from Austria, will perform with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra Quartet on January 29th at the Church of St. Blaise beginning at 7 pm. The exhibition part of the program begins on January 30th at 7 pm with the opening of the exhibition ˝Little St. Blaise˝ by Josip Ivanović, as well as the presentation of the project ˝St. Blaise in Dubrovnik Visual Arts˝, all of which will be held in the Marin Držić Theatre. The gastronomic part of the event includes workshops on authentic local cuisine and wines that are scheduled on February 1st and 2nd, while the Wine Festa will be held on February 2nd.
