Dubrovnik Festiwine

This festival's history is really interesting – an event that began in 2014 as a regional wine festival with the aim of promoting wine culture and autochthonous varieties of Dubrovnik-Neretva County, thanks to the great interest of the target audience as well as the general public, has three years later become an international festival, opening its doors to participants far beyond the local county boundaries.

The organisers have prepared a rich program in which everyone can find something for themselves. The festival begins with ˝Dubrovnik Wine Week˝, during which many locals and tourists will visit restaurants, taverns and wine bars with the sign ˝Wine Friendly˝ and will try top quality wines that impeccably complement the tasty delicacies of the Dubrovnik area.

The central event of this year's Dubrovnik Festiwine is the wine exhibition that will be held on Friday and Saturday, the 20th and 21st of April 2018, in the beautiful setting of Sunset Beach in Lapad Bay. In addition to gathering wine professionals and winemakers, the wine exhibition will feature lectures and wine tastings, as well as very appealing wine and culinary workshops such as the ˝Gault & Millau˝ Masterclass Workshop by the Japanese chef Ippei Uemure and the Salon of Sparkling Wines ˝Sparkling Table˝.

In addition to the above-mentioned events, during Dubrovnik FestiWine a blind tasting is traditionally held that selects the wine that is best paired with an autochthonous delicacy, the Ston Oyster. In addition to the appealing ˝Blind Date: In Love with Ston Oysters˝, the ˝Dubrovnik FestiWine Trophy˝ event will be held, a wine competition during which an internationally recognized jury, comprised of Croatian and foreign judges, oenologists, led by the president of the jury team Bojan Kobalo, will choose the best wine of the festival.

Another exciting festival event is the gastro spectacle ˝Dubrovnik FestiWine Gala˝, a gala dinner that will be held on 19 April 2018 at the Excelsior Hotel, during which the young but proven chefs Igor Jagodić and host chef Petar Obad will present their creative cuisine alongside the seven winning wines of last year's festival. As in the past years, all of the proceeds will go towards scholarships for young talents from the fields of culinary and wine arts.
