VIDEO DUBROVNIK WINTER FESTIVAL

This year's Dubrovnik Winter Festival will be organized in specific conditions, all in accordance with the recommendations of the Civil Protection Headquarters of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the Croatian Institute of Public Health.

The festival will be held from the 28th of November, 2020 to the 6th of January, 2021, and organized by the City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board. Due to the current epidemiological situation, the program is planned in a more modest form and in accordance with the applicable epidemiological measures.

Welcoming the most beautiful time of the year, the city will shine in its winter attire, adorned with over a thousand lighting decorative elements and a thousand metres of decorative laurels that will adorn the city façades, and more than thirty large and small Christmas trees will all bring holiday warmth to every corner of the city.

Dubrovnik residents and visitors will have the opportunity to experience Advent, only in a more intimate atmosphere, without large gatherings, concerts and festive stands on Stradun.

The theme of this year's Dubrovnik Winter Festival is Advent in the City of Christmas Carols, and the festival will be largely dedicated to the city’s carol singing tradition.

Traditional Christmas carols are what make us special in Croatia and beyond. We are introducing a novelty, a convertible "pop up" bus Libertas that will tour the city and city districts, and bands, vocal groups (klapa) and representatives of cultural institutions will perform carols and other tunes.

A novelty of these holidays are the "photo points," the Advent wreath on Luža, an ideal place for all lovers of photography, which will be open to all visitors on Friday and Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings, in compliance with epidemiological measures, and the Trg oružja (Arsenal Square) will be festively decorated also for holiday snaps.

During Advent, Dubrovnik cinemas have prepared a special program for film lovers as part of the drive in cinema that will be located in the Radeljević parking lot. There will be two screenings a day with a special family weekend program, from Thursday to Sunday. The program starts on December 3, and the list of screenings will be published on the websites of the Dubrovnik Winter Festival and Dubrovnik Cinemas.

Also, to the delight of the youngest, every day through the Bay of Lapad from 10.00 to 16.00 the popular advent train will run at intervals of 30 minutes, and free for all passengers, and also the Dubrovnik Christmas teddy bear will be out in the city.

Numerous discounts have been prepared for visitors to the city's cultural institutions, restaurants, and all information can be found on the website of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.

This year's program is adapted to the recommendations of the Croatian Institute of Public Health for the prevention of infection of Covid-19, and all participants and visitors are asked to adhere to them. The maintenance of the planned programs will depend on the epidemiological situation and further instructions of the Croatian Institute of Public Health.

The festival opens this Saturday with the lighting of the Advent Candles, and if the epidemiological situation is more favourable by the end of the year and there is a relaxation of measures, the city is ready to implement other programs, including a New Year's Eve celebration.
