EXHIBITION - "SAINT BLAISE IN HISTORY AND PRESENT"
The central exhibition of this year's Dubrovnik museums and certainly one of the most important cultural events this year in Dubrovnik "Saint Blaise in the past and present" will be opened on Wednesday, 16th May in the Rectors Palace, and in the Rupe Etnograpfic Museum.
Namely, this all inclusive exhibition is set in both areas, and will be open to visitors until the 16th September. That’s the largest and the most important exhibition of the "Golden age of Dubrovnik" heritage from the year 1987.
The Rectors Palace hosts a part of the cult of St. Blaise, which refers to the old Dubrovnik i.e. the Dubrovnik Republic, and the Saint as a national symbol and its presence in the art, while the exhibition in Rupe is dedicated to the rest of the Patron’s cult.
.
The realization of the exhibition includes four museums in Dubrovnik (Archaeological, Cultural history, Ethnographic and Maritime), and prominent scientists who are engaged as outside collaborators. Except the objects from the collection of the Dubrovnik Museum, the exhibition will show many other valuable exhibits inspired by or dedicated to Dubrovnik Patron, which arrived due to courtesy of even 56 different institutions and individual collectors, mostly from the Dubrovnik diocese. The exhibition "Saint Blaise in the past and present "is the central part of the Dubrovnik Museum project which aims to raise awareness of the importance of St. Blaise in Dubrovnik cultural tradition and to increase the level of recognition of St. Blaise as its celestial patron, by presenting the material and immaterial cultural heritage which Dubrovnik has had due to respect for its Patron Saint.
