The amateur Water polo Championship was interrupted several times but it always continued again. And when in the eighties of the past century, many started to think that this nice tradition was stopped forever, a group of enthusiasts from the local beach Porporela restarted it. They collected some money, bought everything they needed and made water polo pitch in the sea. They got a couple of balls and water polo caps from the local Water polo club Jug, and revived the competition. The tradition went on.
The number of applied contestants is almost higher than the number of people who can swim in this town - This comment can be heard very often lately , not only due to the high number of applicants but also because of the fact that active players are not allowed to take part in this Wild game. Of course, veterans, i.e. all those over 40, are an exception.
Qualifications for the Wild League Water polo Championship last until July 9, while the final part will take place in Dubrovnik's old port; according to tradition, with fans supporting players from different parts – auditorium, floating boats , city walls... This scene is something that provokes amazement among all tourists in their City walk.
